The Yugoslav Government Information Office in Cairo has issued the following communique: “In view of the situation in which we find ourselves, it is impossible for democratic elements in Yugoslavia to defend themselves against the repeated recent attacks in the London Press and the tendentious attitude of the London wireless, which has completely accepted the Partisans’ view.” The communique added that the gains claimed by Marshal Tito’s Partisan forces were actually stabs in the back against the Yugoslav forces. The Press Association military correspondent estimates that Marshal Tito’s forces in Yugoslavia are tying up at least nine German . and three satellite divisions and adds that Marshal Tito commands a well-organised army of about a quarter of a million, equivalent to eight to ten divisions.
