BEING SENTENCED BY VICHY. COURTS INHUMAN CROWDING IN PRISONS Throughout France thousands of patriots are being sentenced. At the prison’ of La Sante, Paris, patriots are eight in a cell measuring some three yards and a half in length. “Le Moniteur” mentions ■ the sentencing of 27 people at the court of Riom, on the charge of “associating with terrorists.” A Metz newspaper [records heavy sentences on several ’people guilty of assisting young patIriots to escape. A Dr Gruninger, of Diedenhofen, had helped two young men called up for service to escape into Southern France. This was his second offence, and he was sentenced to five years’ penal servitude. Another man and his daughter had been supplying other young men with forged identity papers.
