FAMOUS JOURNALIST
ROBERT BLATCHFORD DEAD AT 94. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 17. The death is announced, at the age of 94, of the veteran British journalist, Robert Blatchford. He will long be remembered as the founder, in 1891, of the .Socialist newspaper, the “Clarion.” Mr Blatchford was the author of many books, one of which, “Merrie England,” had a circulation of over a million copies. In addition to his books on political subjects, Mr Blatchford wrote many charming literary arid other essays. In a famous series of newspaper articles, he championed, in the years before the last great war. the National Service campaign of the late Field-Marshal Earl Roberts.
