INTERHOUSE ASSOCIATION
GATHERING
£l5O HANDED OVER TO MAYOP.’
FOR DISTRICT PATRIOTIC FUND.
The Masonic Hall, Masterton, was packed to the dors last night when a Christmas dance was held by the Wairrarapa Interhouse Association. A happy time was spent and the gathering was most successful. “Father Christmas” was present with his swag from which he distributed paper hats to all present.
The chairman of the Interhouse executive, Mr G. Daubney, introduced the Mayor. Mr T. Jordan and Mrs. Jordan and the Town Clerk. Mr G. T. O'Hara Smith and said that the gala week-end was the girls’ own effort to assist the Patriotic funds. Father Christmas handed ’‘over on behalf of the Interhouse girls a cheque for £l5O for the 1944 All. Purposes Patriotic Appeal. In acknowledging the cheque .Mi* Jordan said it was a unique and most welcome Christmas box and he thanked the girls for their effort. Mr Jordan added that since the time of the Exhibition the Interhouse Association had shown the lead.
A presentation was made to Cathie’s team for having sold the greatest number of tickets. The team sold tickets to the value of £27. K Miss Harding of Cathics team, received a trophy given by an anonymous donor for having sold the greatest number of tickets as an individual. Miss Harding sold 147 tickets. A presentation was made to Mr and Mrs Daubney as recognition of their outstanding service to the Association. Mr Parsons observed that the organisation would be incomplete without Mr Daubney. The secretary, Mr V. G. Davis was also made a presentation and appreciative references wore made to the competent manner in which ho carried out his duties.
Dancing was enjoyed to music played by Ashton’s orchestra and the M’s C. were Messrs J. Bruce aAd L. Askew. A Monte Carlo waltz ‘was won by Miss Claire Riddell and Mr Fellingham.
The sub-committee which was arranging the Interhouse Picnic in February reported that good progress was being made. A special meting of all interhouse girls will be held in Masterton on Tuesday night, in the room above Mr C. Spiers’ library.
