WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAHUTARA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of Kahutara Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday, Mrs Hood presiding over a good attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Pope, Playle, Matenga and Henderson. Letters were read from four local soldiers who are overseas, thanking the Institute for parcels received. Final arrangements were made for the Christmas party. Mrs Hood Senr., read an interesting report of the Wairarapa Council meeting held in Carterton, for which she was accorded a vote of thanks. Mrs Welch asked the president, secretary and treasurer to accept a posy and shoulder sprays with the best wishes of the members. The competitions resulted as follows: —Best bloom: Mrs Welch, 1; Mrs Wilson, 2. Jar of flowers: Mrs Welch, 1; Mrs Wilson, 2. The hostesses for the afternoon tea were Mesdames Welch and Wilson. WEDDING BAIN—HOLLAND At St John's Church. Featherston, recently, Zoe Ellen, only daughter of Mt and the late Mrs J. W. Holland, was married to Colin Cecil, son of Mr and Mrs P. Bain, Carterton. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore an attractive afternoon frock of asparagus green crepe, a hat to match and black shoes. She carried a bouquet of roses and delphiniums to ]Jrs K. Woodley, Greytown, an old friend of the bride, was matron of honour. and was attired in a dusky pink crepe frock with hat and shoes to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and delphiniums. Mr W. Jamieson, Carterton, was best man. The Rev J. Higgs officiated at the ceremony and Mrs Raper presided at the organ. Mrs H. Cundy, an old friend of the family, received the guests in a becoming black lacquered silk frock and black picture hat to tone. She wore a shoulder spray of roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs Bain, was attire'cl in a smart navy white silk ensemble, with a shoulder spray of carnations. There were 120 guests present at a luncheon held in the Town Hall, several coming from different parts of New Zealand. For travelling, ■ the bride chose a smart cut black frock with hat and accessories to match, and wore a silver fox fur. Mr and Mrs Bain later left for a tour of the North Island. The bride was attached for many years to the nursing staff of the Greytown Hospital. Personal Items. Mr Niven, Wellington, is the guest of Mr and Mrs L. McKenna, Pahautea. Sister McKay, of the Wellington Hospital nursing staff, is spending her vacation with her parents at'Pahautea. Euchre Party & Dance The Kaiwaiwai Hall Committee intend to make the night of December 20 a happy one for all those who attend their Christmas euchre parly and dance. There will be special prizes for both the euchre and dancing. The committee intend to commence _ both the euchre playing and the dancing at 8 p.m. sharp. COSY THEATRE “MADAM SPY.” At the Cosy Theatre tomorrow night there will be presented the sensational drama; “Madam Spy,” with Constance Bennett and Don Porter in the leading roles. “North of the Klondike,” an excellent drama, will also be shown, the chief roles being portrayed by Brod Crawford and Andy Devine.
