STOCK MARKET

MASTERTON SALE.

YARDING BELOW AVERAGE

The Wairarapa Stock and Station Agents’ Association report as follows on their weekly Masterton sale yesterday:—The yarding was somewhat below the average in numbers, but some good store wethers were offered and a total clearance was effected at auction. The following are some of the principal prices realised: —Fat shorn wethers, 23s 6d, 22s 4d, 225, 21s 6d; fat b.f. lambs, 235; store 4-tooth wethers, 21s 2d; forward condition 2-tooth 21s; store 2-tooth wethers, 20s lOd, 20s Id; store ewes, 7s 4d; others, 15s to 19s. HEAVY ENTRIES AT ADDINGTON PRICES DECLINE IN SOME SECTIONS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 15. Heavy entries caused a decline in some sections at today’s Addington market. This was the case with the fat cattle entry, which was 40 per cent larger than usual. The market eased to only a moderate extent for primest quality, but much more for heavy beef. Heavy fat' ewes were also cheaper. The store sheep sale generally was sound with very little change in recent values. The best of the shipped wethers sold to 275, most of the balance making from 25s to 26s 3d. The fat sheep met a dragging sale, declining 5s a head. Heavy ewes were not in demand, but there was a good market for young medium weight ewes, and these sold well up to schedule limits. The market for light medium weight cattle declined about 20s a head and heavy cattle showed a greater drop. The porker sale was very erratic at times, though in most cases full schedule rates were maintained. Bacon values were easier by from 2s to 3s a head except in the case of heavyweights, which maintained last week’s figures. The average price per lb was 8d to Bjd.
