WEDDING
SANKO-RICHARDS St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, recently was the scene of a pretty wedding, when Olwyn Maude Richards,, only daughter of Mr and the late Mrs B. N. Richards, of Palmerston North, was married to Edward Arthur, R.N.Z.A.F., third son of Mrs L. Sanko of Stratford, and the late Mr P. Sanko of Canada. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich officiated and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The church wAs beautifully decorated with while lilies, pink and white rhododendrons and roses. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr V. Richards, looked charming in a model frock-of dusky pink morocain with a shoulder spray of orange blossom. She wore a toque to match, trimmed with navy veiling shoulder length, and navy shoes. She carried a white covered prayer book. The bridesmaids, Misses Winnie Nyhan (chief) and Lexie Webber, friend and cousin of the bride, respectively, were dressed alike in frocks of corn.flower blue silk pique and wore turbans to match, also gold armlets, the gift of the bridegroom. They carried bouquets of pink and white carnations and maiden hair fern.
Leading Aircraftman Bernard Cane was best man and Aircraftman Douglas Howell was groomsman, both of the R.N.Z.A.F.
The wedding reception was held in the Savage Club rooms. The guests were received by Mrs R. A. Webber (aunt of the bride) and Mrs S. Yates (sister of the bridegroom).’ Mrs Webber wore a navy blue ensemble relieved with pale pink and a shoulder spray of pink carnations and maiden hair fern. Mrs Yates was attired in a grey frock with a black fox fur and black accessories.
When Aircraftman and Mrs E. A. Sanko left by car tor the north, the bride travelled in an air force blue costume with navy accessories.
