FEATHERSTON COUNCIL f BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held in the Council Chambers, Martinborough, yesterday. There were present: Mr A. B. Martin (in the chair), Councillors R. Smith, J. C. Bidwill, Q. Donald, J. A, McLeod, W. L. Cameron,. R. Matthews and G. Gillies. An apology for 'absence was received from -Councillor L. J. Thompson. ' Mr W. G. Martin wrote thanking the Council for its message of sympathy. The Wairarapa Automobile Association wrote regarding the condition of the Woodside Road and asking that it be given attention before the summer holidays. The Council decided that the road should get its usual attention. As no tenders were received for dog collars it was decided to hold the matter over till January. In connection with the Dry River water-race the clerk was instructed to write to the Borough Council with reference to conditions at the headworks. The ranger reported that 33 dogs had been registered last month. The Council decided to instal a telephone at the workman’s cottage at Tuturumuri. It was decided that the next meeting be held on January 24. The overseer reported that owing to a flood in November, it was necessary to put an extra 150 yards of metal on No. 2 section of the White Rock Road. Most of the slips have been removed on the Longbush and Whakarua roads, but it will still take a lot of heavy grading to get the roads in good order.
