VALUES AT CARTERTON SALE. BETTER PRICES FOR PIGS. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on iiheir Carterton sale yesterday:—A fair entry came forward. Fat sheep made fair values although competition was limited. Store sheep sold at. late rates. Store and fat cattle were very firm, and yearling dairy heifers sold well. A few springing cows were offered and met with good competition. Bacon pigs and porkers sold better than last week and there was a sharp rise in slips and weaners. The following are the prices:— Sheep: Fat w. hoggets, 28s to 325; fat w. wethers, 325; shorn wethers, 23s 6d; fat shorn hoggets, 25s 9d; ewes with b.f. lambs at foot, 19s 2d; shorn 2-th. wethers, 20s 4d. Cattle: Springing cows, £8 to £l2; cows in milk, £8 ss; fat cows, £6 15s to £8; forward cows, £4 to £5 8s; store cows, £2 15s to £3 ss; yearling heifers, £3 10s to £5 10s. Pigs: Baconers, £3 to £3 10s; porkers, £2 5s to £2 15s; slips, 35s to £2 2s; weaners, 27s 6d to 355.
