From a study of a recent Soviet communique it seems probable that the German counter-offensive in the Kiev salient has made considerable progress, but military opinion in London is that there is no danger to Kiev itself and that the Russians can well afford to give ground the. capture of which involves a heavy destruction of enemy manpower and material. ,
