Accident While Playing.

Douglas Cliff, aged nine years, of 14 Sussex Street, Masterton, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital at 7.15 o'clock last night with a broken leg which he received while playing.

Pupils’ Concert. The following took part in a concert given by the pupils of Miss E. Thomas, A. L.T.C.L., in the Savage Club room last night: Gwen Groombridge, Joan Candy, D. Orsborn, Helen Wong, Elaine Wong, P. Kjestrup, H. McAskey, B. Beard, M. Franklin, D. Kjestrup, P. Turner, N. Burling, J. Turner, G. Barbour, J. Heath, B. Collin, J. Sage, G. Stevens, B. Feist, L. Larsen, L. Forrest, M. Heath, G. Allen and D. Heckler. At the conclusion of the recital Miss Thomas was the recipient of a gift and a beautiful bouquet from her pupils. Defence Services’ Association.

A meeting of the Wairarapa branch of the New Zealand Defence Services’ Association will be held in the Savage Club rooms, Masterton, on Tuesday night. At the meeting enrolments will be received for membership and the delegate to the recent Dominion conference will outline the decisions arrived at. Membership of the association is open to all home service men who have served continuously for at least six months. A registered badge will be issued to members and the association will take up all pension and other matters affecting the welfare of ex-soldiers. The association was sponsored by the N.Z. Returned Services’ Association and officers of the Wairarapa Association have given every assistance in getting the organisation under way. The chairman, Mr C. J. Carle, and the secretary, Mr G. R. Russell, will be pleased to supply full particulars to those wishing to join the association.
