CALVES AND LAMBS
CHILDREN’S REARING COMPETITIONS JUDGING AT FEATHERSTON SUCCESSFUL COMPETITORS IN GROUP CONTESTS (“Times-Age” Special.) The calf and lamb group judging competitions were held on Monday. Mr H. Feast judged the calves and Mr R. R. P. Hardy the lambs. The results were as follow: — CALVES Care and handlnig (Stds. 1 and 2): Neil Scott 1, Bruce Mclvor 2, Eileen Anderson 3. Stds. 3 to. 4: Donald Sadler 1, Marie Burt 2, Ngaire Maisey 3. Stds. 5 to 6: Melva Henderson 1, Tom Ness 2, Maureen Guthrie 3. Championship, care and handling, Melva Hentierson 1, Neil Scott 2, Donald Sadler 3. The Matthews Cup was won by Melva Henderson. Jersey class (dairy type): Tom Ness I, George Sorenson 2, Dorothy Dittmer 3. Ayrshire class. (dairy type): Melva Henderson 1, Gilbert Cole 2, Donald Sadler 3. The Donald Cup was won by Melva Henderson. Other breeds (dairy type): Gwen Hubbard 1, Joan Merwood 2, Fay Mclvor 3. Special prize for yearling class, lan Farrier 1, Melva Henderson 2, Keith Scott 3. LAMBS , Longwool: Mary Bentley 1, Pat Kelly 2, Lesley Wallace 3. Short wool: M. Gain 1, Ray Jepson 2, Edith Kirkland 3. Mr Feast congratulated the children on the manner in which the calves had been brought forward and said that they were a great credit to them. Mr Hardy said that the lambs were the best to have been placed before • a judge for group judging. Refreshments were provided by the Home and School Association.
Miss Card, in presenting the cups and prizes, congratulated the children and wished the club success in the future.
