MEETING IN MASTERTON. HOUSE-TO-HOUSE APPEAL IN FEBRUARY. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: 'Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair) S. L. P. Free, N. Irwin, J. C. Broad, E. J. Hefl’er, Kemble Welch, H. Morrison, A. F. Stewart, J. James, J. V. Gordon, H. Robinson, H. H. Daniell, A. H. Falloon, P. Nathan, T. W. Wardell, Carmine, R. Miller (Mauriceville subbranch), and Miss B. Kummer. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Sortain Smith, H. R. Keltie, E. G. Norman, D. Donald, T. C. Richardson, T. Jordan, G. Cowie and J. M. Coradine.

The president referred to the death of Mrs W. McKenzie, a foundation member of the branch, and also a member of the committee, up to the time of her death. Although unable to attend meetings of recent years, she continued to give the work her generous support. Miss Thomson, assistant to the Nursing Adviser to the Council, paid an official visit to Masterton during the past week in connection with the work of the society and met the members of the executive. A letter was received from Mr Jameson, convenor of the car committee, advising certain urgently needed repairs to the plunket car which has run over 40,000 miles. The committee expressed thanks to the Tinui Sub-branch for its additional contribution to the annual quota. The headquarters wrote stating that Mrs J. Robinson would be the relieving nurse for January and February. It was resolved to begin the annual house-to-house appeal on 'Munday, February 14. There will be no further- meeting of the committee until February 9. Thanks for gifts were accorded to Mesdames Wrigley, J. James and P. Andrews. The nurses reported inter-alia for November .as follows: — Masterton: Visits to office, adults, 363; babies, 350; pre-school children, 56; casuals, 9. Visits to homes (town): New cases, 30; old cases, 95; pre-school children seen in own home, 10; new cases for month (town), 11. Pre-natal section: Total number of visits, 18. Tinui sub-branch: Taueru, Annedale, Blairlogie, Tinui, . 2 visits each; Homewood Road, 1 visit; new cases, 2; total visits, 24. Mauriceville East and West, Kopuaranga and Mangamahoe, 2 visits each; visits to , homes, 20.
