COMPENSATION CLAIM
TAKING OVER OF HOTEL CECIL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Compensation Court, in an unanimous judgment, awarded £79,080 to Hotel Cecil, Ltd., in a claim against the Minister of Public Works for compensation for the taking over of the hotel for use by the United States Marine Corns. Against the amount is to be set off £35,000 already paid on account, and a further £24,000 paid by respondent to mortgagees in discharge of a mortgage on the property. The respondent is to nay its own costs and to pay claimant 250 guineas costs, together with witnesses’ expenses and disbursements, and fees of both assessors at 12 guineas a day for five days.
