PEACE FEELERS
RECENT GERMAN MOVE SOME CONFIRMATION IN BERNE REPORTED TOUR BY VON PAPEN (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, December 7. Confirmation has reached reliable circles in Berne of a recent peace move by a group of deposed Gorman highranking officers, acting in close ccrlaboration with leading German industrialists, says Reuter's Zurich correspondent. According to diplomatic quarters in Berne, German generals tried to make a sounding regarding the conditions the Allies would require for an armistice. The German industrialists concerned are stated to be active in this move. The correspondent says his diplomatic informant told him that the power represented by these two groups —deposed generals and business men — in the present conditions in Germany should not be underrated. The Algiers radio today quoted an Ankara message, stating that Turkish circles believe, despite Berlin denials that Von Papen has toured the satellite Axis countries to discuss peace possibilities. Von Papen is reported to have been unsuccessful. Reuter’s Ankara correspondent reports that Von Papen yesterday talked for hours with the Turkish Prime Minister, Bay Sukru Saraloglu.
