CAR HITS POLE

ONE OCCUPANT KILLED. TWO OTHERS INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A rnan was killed and two women injured when a car, apparently out of control, hit a pole at the corner of Hackthorne Road and Cashmere Road, shortly before 3 o’clock this morning. They were: — Killed: Michael James Brennan, aged 24, of Cholmondeley Avenue. Injured: Mrs Olive Simpson, of Hereford Street, on seriously ill list; Miss Colleen Peoples, of Hastings Street, concussion, condition satisfactory. • The car was travelling down Hackthorne Road and in attempting to negotiate a corner at the foot of the hill crashed into a pole. The driver of the car, Thomas Johnston, of Morrow Bay Street, escaped uninjured. i
