LONG LIST OF AWARDS FOR BRAVERY. COURAGE & SKILL SHOWN. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, December 7. ■ The “Gazette” announces 41 awards to officers and men of the mine-sweep-I ing service, with another 42 mentioned in despatches. It is seldom possible for reasons of security to reveal the precise nature of the little known but important and dangerous work of mine-sweepers and the citation announcing the awards merely states that they are “for steadfast courage and skill on dangerous and important mine-sweeping operations.” ” The recipients of the awards come 'from. all over the world, from places “as far apart as New Zealand and the Argentina. Altogether, there are oyer 25,000 men engaged in mine-sweeping services in various parts of the world.
