FOOD SITUATION
CONCERN IN AUSTRALIA. NATION'S HEALTH THREATENED. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) CANBERRA, December 7. Alarm ■ at the civilian food situation developing in Australia and its threat to the nation’s health’ was voiced by State Ministers at a Federal health conference today. The Ministers declared it was necessary that provision be made for adequate supplies of milk products and eggs for groups vulnerable to meat rationing. This applied particularly to nursing and expectant mothers and to children. The basis for the discussion was a report by the Commonwealth Nutrition Committee which warned that: With meat rationing mothers of young children might not be able to get a regular supply of eggs, which are scarce; milk consumption has already been reduced to its lowest limit of safety; because of low supplies of green vegetables available in most parts of Australia, a weekly butter ration of Boz. is essential for adequate nutrition.
