GREYTOWN
THE LOT OF THE FARMER TRYING TIME EXPERIENCED. (“Times-Age’’ Special.) Despite the shortage of labour local farmers are making every effort to keep up production in order to assist the war effort. The dairy industry in particular is severely handicapped as the result of inability 'to obtain all the labour that is necessary. Longer hours are being worked in order that the supply of butter for Britain will not be seriously interfered with as far as the quantity from this district is concerned. Harvesting on many farms, has become a problem of considerable magnitude as farmers are at a loss where to obtain the labour necessary to harvest the crops. In the circumstances the lot of the farmer in this district is not all “beer and skittles.” However, the position is being faced in a resolute manner, and all difficulties will doubtless, eventually be overcome.
TOWN HALL “FRIENDLY ENEMIES?” Tonight’s programme will be headed by the brilliant drama of everyday life, “Friendly Enemies,” the principal characters being portrayed by Charles Winninger. Charles Ruggles and Nancy Kelly.
