GERMAN WAR CRIMINAL ' ON TREE USED IN EXECUTING RUSSIAN WOMAN FOR HAVING KILLED POULTRY WITHOUT SANCTION (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, December 5. The Russians have hanged a German officer from the same tree cn which he had executed a Russian woman. The German' was tried by a Red Army field courtmartial, in a village west of Kremenchug. Reporting this, the “Red Star” says: “The first German war criminal has been hanged.” It is added that the German had ordered the woman to be executed for having killed poultry without sanction from the German agricultural authorities. The Red Army occupied the village soon afterwards. Civilians caught the German officer before he could escape and handed him over to the Army.
