IMPORTANT SESSION
OPENED IN BRITAIN. SOCIAL & OTHER LEGISLATION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) ' RUGBY, December 5. The Home Secretary (Mr Herbert Morrison) stressing the importance of the present session of Parliament in a speech at -Wembley, said the King’s Speech had envisaged the possibility of far-reaching legislative action or definition of policy on such vital issues as education, social insurance, a comprehensive health service, workmen’s compensation, the development and use of land and reforms of the electoral system. Adding that Britain had a Parliament of parties united on great .national questions, Mr Morrison said no doubt party politics would return or later, but he expressed the hope that a spirit of unity would animate the Legislature in dealing with the opening phase of the reconstruction programme. On principle, measures envisaged for the coming session should not create sharp differences.
