BOWLING

WEEKEND PLAY MASTERTON PARK CLUB. COMPETITION RESULTS. There was a splendid attendance of members on Saturday, and the green played well. The first round of the championship games will close on December 13. Results:— Champion Fours: Heath, White, Ferguson, Reader, beat H. Dixon, F. Dixon, Leigh ,Carstens, 21/14; Moore, Andrews, Bell, Kilgour, beat Edwards, Garard, Griffiths, Shearer, 25/18; Stimpson, Carpenter,, Duckworth, Winhall, beat Jenkins, O’Donnell, Carr, Osborne, 26/9; S. Trevorrow, E. Brown, G. Brown, H. Smith, beat J. Ewington (sub Maxted), P. Smith, Newton, Macpherson (sub. Vincent) ,25/12.

Champion Pairs: Andrews and. Carr ’beat Moore and Kilgour, 26/23. This was a very close game throughout, but an 8 to Can* on the 19th end put the issue beyond doubt. O’Donnell and Osborne beat Edwards and Newton, 17/15. Newton led until the Bth end, and the scores were equal on the 9th, 12th, 17th and 19th ends. Trevorrow and Simpson were right on form to ‘beat Drummond and Winhall, 33/5. Simpson scored 21 points before Winhall got on the board with a 2 on the 11th end. Griffiths and Spackman beat H. and F. Dixon, 22/15. Duckworth and Jenkins beat McCord and Wallis, 24/15.

The green will be fully taxed during this week, as there are a considerable number of games to be played by Monday next. On Saturday the first round of the Booth Cup and Centre Shield fixture will be played at home against four teams from Carterton. Members are reminded of the Centre New Year fours tournament, and are asked to place their teams on the board. Entries will close at 5 p.m, on Tuesday, December 28.

The Park bowlers were the guests of the Masterton Club during the weekend, and, although the weather was rather disappointing, very enjoy,able games were played. The Masterton players were definitely on top in play and hospitality. Arrangements have been made for a return visit in a fortnight’s time.
