LAMB AND CALF CLUB ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance of parents and visitors when the calves and lambs were judged at the local school. The results were as follow: —Lambs (rearing and handling: Kevin O'Brien, 1; Betty Priest, 2; John Riwai, 3. The judge, Mr D. S. Warren, stated that the winning exhibit was outstanding, and congratulated the children on the manner in which they had reared their lambs.

Calves (rearing and handling): Ruth Karaitiana, 1; Bruce Priest, 2; Duncan Scott, 3. Dairy type: Ruth Karaitiana, 1; Bruce Priest, 2; Bob Burling, 3. The judge, Mr D. Leitch, Tuhitarata, commented most favourably on the winning calf, stating that it was a perfect type and , well balanced. The other calves were also good and the children were to be congratulated on their exhibits. The cup which goes to the winner of the calf competition has now been won outright by Ruth Karaitiana, she having won it last year. The prize donated by Mr R. Scott for care and attention was won by Ruth Karaitiana. The winning calf was ( paraded at the Martinborough competition on Thursday and was awarded the first prize. The chairman of the school- com . mittee thanked the judges and expressed the appreciation of the committee for their services. Fine Looking COit. Mr J. Jameson, Tuhitarata, has a beautifully proportioned colt being handled by Mr Leitch. It is by Battle Song—Martial Lady and it will cause no surprise if it realises a substantial sum at the next national sales. Personal Items. Mr W. T. Hume has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Miss N. McDougall, who was the guest of her sister, Mrs Didsbury, Wellington, has returned home. Mr Madden, Lower Hutt, is a guest at Burnside.
