WAGES AND CONDITIONS

RAILWAYMEN’S CLAIMS. NO COMPROMISE TO BE ACCEPTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 3. A decision to ask their respective national executives to confer in Wellington immediately and jointly present to the Government claims covering wages, conditions, and anomalies was made at a conference last night attended by representatives of the Auckland branches of the four organisations of railway servants. The conference decided that if the Government refused to meet the claims in full no compromise should be accepted, but that the national executives should immediately hold a ballot to be completed by December 14. • It also resolved that if the national executives declined to take a ballot the Auckland branches would reserve the right to take separate action.
