ALLEGED MURDER
AMERICAN MERCHANT SEAMAN CHARGED NEGRO FATALLY STABBED. ABOARD SHIP IN PORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Arrested by Detective-Sergeant W. Tricklebank and two detectives at about seven this morning, Reginald Delone Surlcs, a United States merchant seaman, aged 25, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with murdering Robert Lane, and on the application of the police was remanded till tomorrow. • Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson said the alleged murder was committed on board a ship in port in the early hours of this morning. It might be necessary to make application to the Court for a special hearing of the evidence of some of the witnesses. Lane was an American negro merchant seaman. It understood that he was stabbed with a knife.
