OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

THE Y.M.C.A. APPEAL (To the Editor.) Si r —i have been very interested in the notes by “Forty Years On,” as I was one of the youths who enjoyed the facilities of the Y.M.C.A, in the early days. All the names mentioned were well known to me. I fear that I can claim the dubious distinction of having been the first boy to be suspended for a week from the Y.M. The charge against me was that I had permitted a billiard ball to go through a window without first opening the window. Down the years I have always felt that the true reason for the suspension was that the assistant secretary and I were both interested in the same young lady (she married another!) If the Y.M. will call on me, I shall be glad to give them a donation. —I am, etc., NOT SO OLD-TIMER. (To the Editor) Sir, —Although not an old resident of Masterton, I have been interested in the notes by “Forty Years On.” My boys have received benefit from their association with the Y.M. and I think it is our duty to encourage the work. In the last war also many of us were grateful for the help we received from the Y.M., both when we were in the Featherston camp and when we were I overseas. I have already forwarded my I donation, but I thought I should like to

make some public appreciation of the good work done. —I am, etc., 1914-18. Master ton, December 1.
