BOWLING
MASTERTON CLUB EWINGTON BADGES CONTEST. NOTES BY “THE BOWLER.” A challenge match for the Ewington Badges, was played on the Masterton Club’s green yesterday afternoon between the holders, Blane, Doughty, Maxwell, and E. W. Nielsen (s) of the Masterton Club, and the challengers, Brown, Reader, Shearer and'Kilgour (s) of the Park Club. After a most enjoyable game, the Masterton veterans retained the Badges by a majority of 11 points. The green was in excellent order, and was most favourably commented on by the Park veterans. Prior to the commencement of the game, Mr E. W. Nielsen, on behalf of the Masterton Club, extended a welcome to the Park bowlers, and Mr Kilgour, on behalf of the Park Club, sincerely thanked Mr Nielsen for the hearty welcome. Some fine play was witnessed throughout the game, which was most interesting up to the 12th head, when only one point separated the teams. The details of the match are as follow: —The scores on the 4th head were Masterton 6, Park 3, and on the _Bth head there was a difference of 5 points in favour of Masterton. On the 12th head the score board showed Masterton 12, Park 11, but in the next 3 heads, Masterton added 5 points to their total, while Park failed to score. The figures on the 18th head were Masterton 21, Park 14, and the final head showed Masterton 26, Park 15. CLUB COMPETITIONS. Members arc reminded that the first and second rounds of the champion singles, champion pairs and handicap singles, must be completed by Saturday, December 11, and that no extension of time will be granted.
