LANCINO & "OTHER TOWNS ACCORDING TO ALGIERS RADIO WIDELY EXTENDED AIR ATTACKS (British Official Wireless,) (Received This Day, 9.52 a.mJ RUGBY, December 1. The Algiers radio says the Eighth Army, following on its break through the German winter line, is now debouching towards the road to Rome. Lanciano, Gaeoli and Castel Frentano, three places of strategical importance, were captured during the drive north of the Sangro. The Fifth Army front lines have been pushed forward in several areas. Strong patrols probed deep into enemy territory and reported that the defences were heavily wired and mined.

Flume was attacked yesterday by heavy bombers, escorted by long-range fighters. Medium bombers attacked roads and railways in Tuscany and on the west coast of Italy. Light bombers attacked communications and military traffic between Pescara and Ancona. Light bombers, fighter-bombers and fighters made continuous and intensive bombing and machine-gun attacks on ground positions and communications in the battle area. Five enemy aircraft were destroyed. Three of ours were shot down, but the pilots of two are safe.
