CALVES AND LAMBS ANNUAL COMPETITIONS (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the annual judging of the calves and lambs in the grounds of the Mauriceville West School. ” Mr H. Elliott, who was an efficient judge, made the following awards: — Calves, rearing and handling: Ray Terry 1, John Osborne 2. Dairy type, Ron Terry 1. Keith Mortensen 2. Lambs:' Best long-woolled, Robert Stack 1. Southdown cross, Donald Osborne 1.
The Junior Red Cross branch connected with the West School controlled a most successful “bring and buy ’ stall and organised a number of suitable games, the effort being very successful. Afternoon tea was supplied by the parents and friends. The head teacher, Miss B. Grant, had the gathering splendidly organised. The officials desire to thank all those who contributed towards the success of the gathering.
