ALLEGED THEFT

CIVIL SERVANT CHARGED IN CHRISTCHURCH REMANDED ON BAIL , I (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Cecil Selwyn Sapsford, a civil servant, aged 52, appeared before Mr E. C. Lcvvey, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, on a charge of theft. He was remanded to December 7. Sapsford was charged that about October 6, having received from Daniel Clinton a cheque for £4O, intended for the Ministry of Supply, he fraudulently omitted to account for £l6. Senior-Detective Nuttall said that charges involving hundreds of pounds would probably be brought. Bail was allowed in an amount of £5OO and a similar surety.
