HIGH PRODUCTION

FROM BITUMINOUS MINES IN UNITED STATES UNDER NEW WAGE CONTRACT (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, November 28. The highest weekly production record ill over sixteen years was established by the bituminous coal mines of the United States during their first full ■ week of operation under the new wage contract between the Government and the miners, said Mr H. Ickes (Fuel Controller). Production for the week ended November 20 is estimated at 12,700,000 tons. This figure was last exceeded in the week ending March 26, 1927, when the mines produced 13,320,000 tons in anticipation of a general coal strike.
