SOVIET OFFENSIVE IN WHITE RUSSIA
Enemy Line Threatened in Flank CONTINUED BITTER FIGHTING WEST OF KIEV IMPLIED GERMAN CLAIM TO HAVE RETAKEN KOROSTEN LONDON, November 28. The German defence line in White Russia, portion of which has already been smashed, is now facing’ a growing. attack in flank by Soviet forces. One particularly dangerous thrust by Soviet troops looks like taking the enemy in. rear, 15 miles south-west of Jlobin, an important junction on the main northsouth railway. Jlobin is about 60 miles north-west of Gomel. On the central and southern sectors of the Kiev bulge bitter fighting continues. The Germans lay claim in a roundabout way to have recaptured Korosten. A German communique says large Russian forces which broke into the suburbs have now been smashed.
