St. Matthew’s Sale of Work.
The following were the competition winners at,St. Matthew’s sale of work: Collar and cuffs-, Mrs C. Clark; bag, | Mrs Reeves; cake, Miss V. Rich; cloth, Mrs G. B. Dawson. Fishing Conditions. Information received at the Wellington Acclimatisation Society’s office yesterday afternoon is to the effect that all rivers and streams in the district are clear and in good order for fly fishing. Alleged Discrimination. The allegation was made at the annual conference of the New Zealand Labourers’ Federation in Christchurch yesterday that the penalties imposed on workers in the Magistrates’ Court for breaches of manpower regulations were out of proportion to those imposed on employers. It was decided to make an emphatic protest and to make representations to the Government.
