DISABILITY PAY

DEMAND BY LABOURERS’ FEDERATION. AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS SOUGHT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. “That the Government be asked to amend the Social Security Regulations whereby a wage-earner who is off work through illness ,or an accident on the job, is penalised by having his income reduced at a time when his family requires assistance,” was a resolution carried unanimously by delegates at the annual conference of the New Zealand Labourers’ Federation today. The conference demanded that the amendment be calculated to overcome these anomalies, and to provide that a wageearner so laid aside would have his income maintained.
