Widening of Bannister Street.
It was reported at last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council that Mr A. Keith would represent the council and Mr James Handyside the T. G. Mason Estate, in connection with the fixing of compensation for land taken by the council for the widening of Bannister Street.
Proposed Purchase of Premises. A decision to enter into negotiations for the purchase of Mr A. Hoar’s premises on the corner of Park and Queen Streets, Masterton, was made at last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council. The property will ultimately be used in widening the approach to the Park. It was stated at the meeting of the council that the amount asked for the property, £3OOO, was higher than the council’s valuation. Street Collections. Permission to hold street day appeals was granted by the Masterton Borough Council at its meeting last night to the Masterton Y.M.C.A. and to the committee that is raising funds to build a hostel in Wellington for convalescent men of the Merchant Navy.
