The secretarygeneral of the militia in a statement said: “The hour has come when we must strike against the terrorists. No Government can tolerate a state of affairs that borders on ‘ anarchy. Force must re-establish public security. No clemency can be shown.” According to the Algiers radio, more than 70,000 coal miners are on strike ■in France, and the Germans have threatened to take 800 hostages if work is not resumed.
