OBITUARY
MR W. D. L. MACDONALD There died at the Masterton Hospital on Saturday afternoon a well known, highly respected and popular resident of Masterton in the person of Mr William David Lindsey MacDonald. Born in Gisborne in 1888, Mr MacDonald was the second son of the late Hon W. D. S. and Mrs MacDonald. He received his early education at the Ileretaunga School and later attended King's College, Auckland. For some years Mr MacDonald owned a farm in the Gisborne district, but 14*.years ago entered the service of the Department of Agriculture as a stock inspector, being stationed in the course of his duties at Matamata, Rotorua and Masterton, Mr MacDonald was a very keen sportsman and was particularly interested in hunting, racing, football, tennis and golf. Some years ago he controlled many football fixtures in Masterton as a referee. Mr MacDonald is survived by his widow (formerly Miss Mabel Hansen of Gisborne) and two daughters (Mrs D. H. White, of Gisborne, and Miss Jean MacDonald, of Masterton). A daughter predeceased him 18 years ago. The funeral will take place at Gisborne tomorrow.
