CONTROL OF MINES
AND OTHER ESSENTIAL UNDERTAKINGS IN EVENT OF THREAT TO WAR SUPPLIES REGULATIONS IN AUSTRALIA (By Telegraph—(Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. Regulations have been issued empowering the Government to take over coal mines and other essential undertakings where war supplies are threatened. Managers will be provided to keep the undertakings open. It was stated officially that the decision was not made as a step towards the nationalisation of the industry. The regulations have been issued in the name of Mr Curtin, as Minister of Defence. Mr Curtin declined to comment on the regulations.
