MAHUNGA CLUB ACTIVITIES DURING PAST SEASON The annual report of the Mahunga Golf Club states, inter alia: — Reduced membership, together with increased difficulties brought about through war conditions requires the closest care of expenditure, but your committee is able to report another successful year. Membership numbers are still very low and there is room for a large increase. What improvements have been achieved are due to Avork carried out by members in the form of working bees, and your committee records its appreciation. A new putting green has been laid down, but owing to continued wet weather it has not been possible to have it ready during the season. The following nominations have been received for the general committee, and as seven members only are required, an election will be necessary: W. R. Blennerhasset, C. Sutherland, Miss E. V. Wyber, F. Brockett, J. W. Dove, R. B. McPherson, J. Morris, G. B. Young, 1.1. McGregor, S. Jenkins; E. A. Earp, Mrs P. E. Hunn, G. R. Ward. Club championships and competitions resulted as follow: LadiesSenior champion, Miss I. Jepson; run- x ner-up, Mrs G. Caldwell. Junior cham- 1 pion, Miss M. Gaynor; runner-up, Miss } B. Frost. Nett aggregate, Miss W. Reed. Mills Cup, Miss I. Jepson. Men.—Senior champion, G. R. Ward; runner-up, R. B. McPherson. Intermediate champion, J. G. Brand; runner-up, H. M. O'Connor. Junior champion, E. A. Earp; runner-up, G. B. Young. Net aggregate, R. B. McPherson. Captain’s trophy, H. M. O’Connor. Brockett Cup, J. Price. Organised Saturday competitions on the men’s side were renewed during the season and resulted in an improved interest among players. Owing to our small numbers it was not possible to interchange partners to a great extent. No inter-club matches were played, but enjoyable social games were played with Masterton, Manor Park and Riverside clubs. Overseas members are again to be provided with a gift parcel from the club, and in this connection your committee wishes to record its appreciation of the splendid response by donations from members generally. In particular we wish to commend the lady members who have so assiduously attended to our catering arrangements. The report is signed by .1.1. McGregor (captain) and J. G. McFarlane (secretary).
