ALFREDTON
PATRIOTIC SOCIETY ENJOYABLE CARD PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the euchre party held on Saturday by the Patriotic Society, those present spending a most enjoyable time. The winners at cards were:—Ladies, Mrs Weston; men, Mr F. Johnson. A competition for a box of chocolates was won by Mr J. Hartley. A competition for an order for 10s worth of groceries was won by Mrs Algie. A donation of £1 was received from Mr H. Percy. The following goods were donated and auctioned: —Winter roses, donated by Mrs Godinagh, realised 10s lOd; pumpkin plants (Mrs Godinagh). Is 6d; flowers, donated by Mrs Algie, 3s Id; mixed vegetables, grown and donated by Mr C. Leach, £1 Is 6d. The hostesses were Mesdames J. Hartley and Doyle and Miss Doyle. Personal Items. Lance-Bombardier Galbraith, who is on furlough from the Middle East, has been the guest of Mr and Mrs E. Seymour. Mr R. Butler has been the guest of Mr and Mrs V. Payne.
