MARTINBOROUGH
GIRL GUIDES TENTH ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The tenth annual meeting of the Fea-therston-Martinborough Girl Guides’ Association was held in the Presbyterian Hall, Martinborough, on Tuesday. Mesdames Holmes, Riddiford, Bidwill, Miss Card, and a number of committee members and parents were present. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Bloxham, W, B. Martin, N. Matthews, Pain, Perry, Kershaw, Baker, Campbell, Algie, Sharp and Miss Martin. Miss Card, who presided, welcomed those present. . The financial statement was read and adopted. Mrs Bidwill presented her annual report, which gave a most interesting account of the activities of the Featherston and Martinborough companies and packs. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Miss Card (reelected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Blundell, V/. B. Martin, W. Barton and Griffiths; secretary, Miss Baker; committee —Featherston, Mesdames Howell and Carlyon; Martinbcrough, Mesdames Coules and Blathwayt. Mrs Riddiford gave an instructive address on the Guide movement and aims. She dealt briefly with the life of Lord Baden Powell, the starting of guiding, and the training 'of guides. Mrs Blundell and Mrs W. Barton thanked Mrs Riddiford for her address. Mrs Holmes thanked Mrs Riddiford and congratulated Mrs Bidwill on the way in which she had carried out her duties in these difficult days, with the shortage of guiders and camps, etc. I Afternoon tea was served by the Martinborough Committee members.
