The Japanese have strongly reinforced their troops in the vicinity of Ichang and driven 80 miles southwards, many casualties being suffered on both sides. The Chinese successfully attacked Japanese strongholds north-west _ of Hankow, cutting enemy communications at several points. General Stilwell’s communique reports that Liberators bombed shipping in the Kowloon docks yesterday, scoring many hits. Mitchells bombed shipping at Fort Bayard on the Kwangchowan Peninsula.
