POWER OF UNITED STATES FIGHTING PLANES. USE OF IMPROVED SIGHTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrights WASHINGTON, November 16. Recent developments in fire power have made the American fighting planes the most formidable armed aircraft in the skies, said General Frank Wolfe, Chief of the Army Air Force’s ’material command, writing in the official A.E.F. journal “Air Force.” He added: “We are literally designing guns and putting wings on them. The gunners in our bombers are now using computing sights which force the enemy fighters to remain at a range from which their fire power is ineffective.”
