ELECTRIC POWER BOARD MEETING AT CARTERTON TODAY. MONTHLY REPORTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board, held at Carterton today, over which’Mr A. C. Pearce presided, the Secretary-Mana-ger, Mr G. Brown, said that for the first seven months (April-October) of the financial year, the revenue of £48,684 represented a gain of £lOl6 on last year’s figures, but a decrease of £279 on the estimates. The ratio between the cost of power and revenue was being satisfactorily maintained. There were now 6382 consumers, against 6352 a year ago. The reduced turnover in the Trading Department continued, and would be more noticeable during the next few months, as members of the installation staff would be fully employed in the metering of water heaters. Units supplied by the Public Works Department during October increased only by 3.11 per cent. Mr Brown said he had again written to the Electricity Controller asking when the order specifying the new load which would or would not be connected up, was likely to be issued. The chief engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan, submitted a full report on the past month’s engineering work. Referring to the monthly load statistics, he said it was very .satisfactory to know that the board was now complying with the Government’s request to keep within 5 per cent of last year’s figures. The Kourarau sub-station generated 318,820 units last month, an increase of 23.5 per cent on 1942, and an increase of 51 per cent on 1940, the year prior to the restrictions. Both plants were operated to give the maximum from the available water supply. The lower dam would be cleaned from November 15 to November 20.
