RIOTING IN FRANCE

ON ARMISTICE DAV SOME UNCONFIRMED REPORTS. OF HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE. . (By Telegraph—(Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON. November 12. Unconfirmed reports from France, quoted by the “Evening Standard’s” Berne correspondent, say 800 people were killed in Gfehbble and Lyons in Armistice Day rioting. It is not known yet whether the French ceased work between eleven a.m. and noon, but acts of violence occurred in many places. Two German slodiers were killed and a number wounded by bombs in a Lyons suburb. The German command, as an immediate reprisal, advanced the curfew to 8.30 p.m., and closed all places of entertainment. It is feared that hostages may be shot.

At least two men have been assassinated for giving the Germans information regarding acts of resistance.
