BLUNT ADMISSION
BY JAPANESE COMMANDER IN JAVA. PURPOSE OF GIVING PEOPLE “SHARE” IN GOVERNMENT. 'the Tokio radio recently announced that General Harada, Commander-in-Chief of the Japanese forces in Java, while addressing the first session of the newly-created Central Advisory Council made the blunt statement that the whole aim of the so-called share which was given to the natives of Java in the government of the country was to obtain the people’s assistance for the continuation of the wax* against the Allies. General Harada said that the British and American enemy must come back with their counter-offensive and that the war situation was gradually becoming very serious. “The main purpose in creating the Central Advisory Council” he said “is to acquire the people’s collaboration for the military administration. Councillors must realise that in war time they must strive to bring the enthusiasm of the people into line with the policy of the military administration for the smooth enforcement of its administrative measures.”
