DEADLY TANK KILLER
BRITISH 17-POUNDER GUN.
(Special P.A. Correspondent.)
LONDON, November 8.
The “tank-killer” is the name given to Britain’s latest anti-tank gun, the 17pounder. It is certainly not an overstatement. The 17-pounder can bore neat holes through armour-platmg. When these solid armour-piercing shells hit a tank their impact is so terrific that the “plug” which is formed by the shell as it pierces the armour becomes red-hot and skittles round inside the tank like a pea in a tin can — with a decidedly unhealthy result.
