IN WHITE RUSSIA

THRUST TOWARDS POLISH FRONTIER. MORE NAZI ADMISSIONS. (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, November 8. The Russians are continuing their advance on the White Russia front. Reuter’s Moscow correspondent says General Yeremenko’s dual drive from Nevel is pushing steadily across the half-frqzen lakes and swamps, one spearhead turning south-west, in an outflanking movement behind Vitebsk, is now 35 miles from the old Polish border. German' sources admit Russian.attacks from the Crimea northward to Nevel. The German-controlled Scandinavian Telegraph Bureau says the battles west of Nevel are incomparably more violent than on the Kiev front and adds: “The Latvian border apparently is the Russians’ primary objective in their drive to the Baltic.”

Today’s German High Command communique says: “On the Perelop Isthmus strong Russian forces attacked and achieved minor local successes.” The Berlin radio admits that violent defensive fighting is going on in the Kerch area and the Paris radio stated that the Russians, from bridgeheads on the Kerch Peninsula, are intensifying their pressure and launching non-stop attacks.
