WEDDINGS
DANIELL—WILTON The Lansdowne Presbyterian Church was gay with flowers on Saturday afternoon when Dorothy Joan, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. R. Wilton, “Tirohanga,” Rangitumau, was married to Flying Officer Trevor Hamilton, second son of Mr and Mrs F. C. Daniell, of Essex Street, Masterton. The Rev David McNeur officiated, and Mrs Morton presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful wedding gown (kindly lent by a recent bride) of magnolia ring velvet cut on classical lines to form a sweeping train. Her tulle veil was held in place by real orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of cream roses, freezias and maidenhair fern. 1 The bridesmaid, Miss Lucy Wilton (sister of the bride) wore shell pink taffeta with a heart-shaped neckline, ruched puffed sleeves and bodice and her bouquet was of pastel pink flowers. Flowers were worn in her hair to form a topknot. Mr John Daniell, of Masterton, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man and Messrs Guy Wilton and Murray Finlayson were ushers at the church.
After the wedding the guests motored out to “Tirohanga,” where they were received by Mr and Mrs Wilton and Mr and Mrs Daniell. Mrs Wilton was attired in a navy model ensemble with shell pink flowers and Mrs Daniell wore a navy and white ensemble with a toning shoulder spray. A very jolly informal reception was held. The beautiful floral decorations were the work of friends. The bride and bridegroom, amid showers of confetti and a rousing sendoff, left by car for a tour of the North Island. The bride travelled in a powder blue frock with a blue halo felt hat and navy accessories, and she carried a fur coat. ' The bridegroom, who has been serv'ing in England, has only recently returned to New Zealand. All his four brothers are serving in the forces in overseas theatres of war. PHELPS—COMMON. A quiet but pretty wedding took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon when Irene May, daughter of Mr W. Common and the late Mrs Common, of Pahiatua, was married to Reginald Benjamin, son of Mr and Mrs A. B. Phelps, off Tauranga. The ceremony was performed by the Rev H. Taepa. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a becoming dress of powder blue with navy accessories with a shoulder spray to tone. Mrs E. Button was matron-of-honour, and she wore dusky pink with matching accessories and a shoulder spray. Mr Cyril Common was best man. The reception was held at 73 Lincoln Road, Masterton, and Mr and Mrs Phelps left later for- the north.
