MEETING IN MASTERTON LAST NIGHT £llB2 PAID OUT IN GRANTS At a meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust held in Masterton last night there were present Messrs H. P. Hugo (chairman), J. Macfarlane Laing. E. G. Eton, A. O. Jones, C. E. Grey, J. A. Russell and R. Page. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs R. Krahagen and H. H. Daniell. The Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department wrote thanking the Trust for its offer of accommodation while the new Post Office was being erected, and stated that while it would be some time before the.work would commence, the offer would be noted.
The Building and Leasing Committee was appointed to confer with representatives of the New Zealand and Wairarapa Rugby Unions regarding Memorial Park.
The chairman, Mr Hugo, reported on a visit of inspection to Memorial Park. He said that although a fine recreation hall had been erected it was built in an out of the way place and no regard had been paid to the future use of the building. It was reported' that grants paid to date to schools, etc., amounted to £937, and in addition £245 for University entrance and special grants had been paid.
